No More Dead Phones: Why Every Hunter Needs the SLXtreme April 26 2017

There's nothing quite like dropping a trophy buck, only to realize that your iPhone is just as dead, smashed at the bottom of the tree stand. Or maybe it's ruined because the rain got to it, or the battery ran out. Either way, no trophy pictures for you, buddy -- and no GPS or messaging apps to help you waypoint the meat cache or tell the family you're fine and heading home soon.

That's why we created the SLXtreme. This rugged phone case does everything you need to keep the wife happy, which, by no coincidence, is the same stuff that'll help save your life when things really get bad. After all, no matter how well prepared you are, if mother nature really wants to get you, she will.

But with the SLXtreme from SnowLizard Products on your side, you'll have an advantage. This tough, camouflaged iPhone case has military grade drop proof protection, so if it falls from your tree blind or drops out of your pocket when you're scrambling over rocks in pursuit of wild sheep, your biggest concern will be wild animals running up your phone bill. And with Mossy Oak®'s Break Up Country® Camo on the new SLXtreme 7 case, you can whip it out and text home any time without flashing colors or reflections that might scare game away.

The SLXtreme also has a built-in solar powered panel that can charge your phone even if it goes dead in the backcountry, and a built in battery to extend the time between charges. No more dead phone, period -- unless you take your gun out and shoot it.

The SLXtreme's rugged, waterproof case means you can take it with you anywhere -- even duck hunting -- and that solar-powered, battery boosting capability means that as long as you have access to direct sunlight, you'll always have access to an emergency navigation and communication device. The SLXtreme case is compatible with all iPhones up to the iPhone 7, so you can be protected -- and still get that trophy photo -- no matter what you choose to carry.

  • It’s easy to use. Really. Like your outdoor adventure gear, you may not need your SLXtreme 7 for everyday use. So we made it super simple to slip your phone in and out for those times an extreme case is required.

The new SLXtreme 7 for iPhone 7 builds on the rugged, versatile protection of Snow Lizard’s SLXtreme lineup, with the following improvements: more shock-absorbing material, better solar power technology for enhanced efficiency and a new intensity indicator to measure solar strength and power.

SLXtreme in Water Sports March 28 2017

Nowadays, iPhones go just about everywhere: Hunting, camping, even paddling, rafting or floating on your favorite waterways. But don't grab your phone and strap on your water skis just yet. If you're going to spend time out on the water, you should protect your investment -- and lifeline for communication -- from the inevitable splashes and drops with a waterproof, ruggedized case like the SLXtreme. Each model of the SLXtreme is tailored to protect a specific iPhone model, including the new SLXtreme 7 phone case for the iPhone 7.

Waterproof for Complete Submersion

If you're into water sports, you'll love the SLXtreme's full waterproofing: Drop your phone into water as deep as 6.6 feet and leave it there for half an hour before fishing it out, and it'll be fine.  The ruggedized case can also withstand falls from up to 6.6 feet high on a rocky shore, and keeps out the sort of wind-blown rain that might crop up on a sea kayaking or water-skiing adventure. The SLXtreme is also highly resistant to small particles like dust and sand, so you don't have to worry about your phone when you're at the beach.

Mobile Charging for Your Phone

There's more: The SLXtreme also has an integrated battery and solar panel, so you can keep your phone powered up even when you're far from an electrical outlet. As long as you have direct sunlight, the solar panel will provide a constant trickle of power -- even in the middle of the ocean. Once the sun goes down, the built-in battery can boost your power for more than 80 hours of playback time or more than 20 hours of talk time, depending on your iPhone model.

Top 5 Most Dangerous Hiking Trails in the World March 23 2017

Hiking seems like a family-friendly outdoor adventure. It's not rock climbing or cliff diving, so what could possibly go wrong? In this "journey of a thousand miles" blog, we explore five of the world's deadliest hiking trails, and some of the things that can go wrong.

  1. Denali National Park and Reserve - Mt. McKinley, Alaska — The Denali National Park spans some 4.7 million acres, and is a natural and rugged park. There are no trails and people who come to explore the park just wander off into the wilderness alone or in small groups. The dangers at Denali are many. The greatest threat to human life is the weather. Sudden storms that drop the temperature to below freezing, blizzards, snow, rain, and wind are all possibilities. With the rain and snow comes the threat of landslides and avalanches. If the weather doesn't kill you, then the wildlife might. This is the land of grizzly bears, wolves, and whatever else lurks in this foreboding place.
  2. Mist Trail - Yosemite National Park, California — The Mist Trail stretches seven miles round trip, and takes you to the summit of Half Dome with little more than guide cables to help you ascend the top. It is a physically demanding trail that people brave to view the spectacular sights of Yosemite. The confirmed death count from hiking this trail ranges around 60 deaths. It is the last section of the trail when people are at the greatest altitude where people fall. The over spray from Nevada Falls and the aged granite combine to make the steps slippery.
  3. The Maze - Canyonlands National Park, Utah — The maze is a little piece of the Martian landscape right here on Earth, and it is about as hospitable too. There is no water. There is no food. The nearest ranger station is some 2 hours by 4x4 over a landscape that is desolate, remote, and treacherous. You must face all of that just getting to the maze. Once there, you face a trail of sorts that are nothing more than gaps between rocks that wind aimlessly. Many of the trails lead to dead ends - no pun intended. The danger here is from the desert environment and the lack of water. Heat stroke makes you delusional and you hear the ghosts. The lack of water makes you crazed. People die here doing stupid things looking for water. If the heat and lack of water don't get you, then the snakes, scorpions, and spiders might. Besides the heat, the biggest risk to life is from falling rocks. There's no place to go when you can barely squeeze through the gaps in the rocks that is the trail; you're a sitting duck for even the smallest of boulders.
  4. Huayna Picchu Trail, Peru — Perched above the amazing Machu Picchu is the Huayna Picchi Trail which climbs some 2,693 meters in altitude. The trail is as treacherous going up as it is coming down. One misstep and you plummet off the cliff. There is a single strand of cable that acts as a guide and handhold. That is all you get amid the steep steps and decaying, slippery stones. The climb is nearly vertical and requires a great deal of physical fitness. The danger here is not always from tripping or falling, but from your heart giving out or your body failing. If you manage to make the summit, the view is spectacular. If you don't make the summit, there is no shame in turning around and living.
  5. Mount Hua Shan, China — It doesn't get much more dangerous than the trail to the south mountain of Mount Hua Shan in China. The ascent to the top is a place of death. The rumors depict a place where 100 people fall from the trail each year. Despite the deaths, people flock to Mount Hua Shan to walk the trail. The trail, and that is a horrible word for what climbers face, is more akin to a bridge or scaffolding. You walk along planks supported by steel shanks hammered into the sheer rock face. As you climb, the planks disappear, and what remains are small holes carved into the rock for your feet and hands. Don't look down. All you'll see is your own death. You can't go back as the throng of people behind you are making their way up the mountain. You can only go forward and hope your sweaty hands can cling to the rock.

FAQ: Watertesting your SLXtreme 7 iPhone Case March 10 2017

One of the SLXtreme 7’s main features is its IP-68 rating for water and dust protection. But before you take your phone out into the water, you should perform a test to ensure that your case is watertight.

What are you going to need for this waterproofing test?

  • An unpackaged SLXtreme 7 iPhone case (also works for previous SLXtreme models)
  • A fillable sink
  • A mug or other weighted object
  • A napkin or other paper product

4 steps to verify your case is water tight

1.  First, fill your sink until it is deep enough to fully submerge your phone case

2. Unhook the two side latches of your SLXtreme 7 iPhone case.

3. Place a napkin or other paper product into the phone case

4. Close the case and place it facing down in a completely filled sink. Place the mug, or other weighted object on top of the phone case so that it is weighed down. Leave the case sitting for fifteen minutes.

5. After fifteen minutes, remove the case from the sink and remove the napkin from the case. The napkin should be dry to have passed the water testing. If not, please contact customer support at
